Beef

Research Summary

We sometimes place so much focus on nutrition of the growing calf that we forget about the importance of maternal nutrition on calf growth and development. Research continues to demonstrate how changing the dam's nutrition during different stages of gestation can affect calf performance. This would include both direct effects on calf performance as well as indirect effects through things like increased colostrum quality or quantity.

Calves from cows that received DDGS weighed more at birth and had greater weaning weights that calves from cows that didn't receive DDGS supplementation.
