DDGS and Amino Acid Nutrition in Swine Diets

Traditionally, swine producers and nutritionists have included DDGS at very conservative inclusions due to unfamiliarity with the ingredient. As the industry learns more about the nutritional value of DDGS, we now see swine producers increasing DDGS inclusion in their formulations for pigs at all stages of production. This strategy reduces feed costs, yet maintains pig performance at the same time. Additionally, while many nutritionists have reported that they have increased DDGS inclusion, they also report on the need to adjust their formulation strategy for nutrients such as amino acids. It appears that at greater DDGS inclusions, we need to challenge some of the industry's current recommendations for certain nutrient requirements. In order to start an interactive discussion on this relevant topic, POET Nutrition and Dakota Gold are pleased to sponsor this webinar. The webinar will include insights from University of Minnesota DDGS researcher Dr. Jerry Shurson and will provide webinar attendees with new strategies for including DDGS in their swine formulations. Key Learning Points: • Optimal DDGS inclusion for swine diets • Amino acid considerations with greater DDGS inclusion • Economics of greater DDGS inclusions • Results from recent DDGS research • DDGS market updates

Wrinkle: Evaluating Energy in Corn Oil

Customers and those nutritionists considering feeding Dakota Gold often contact us and ask about the energy value of Dakota Gold. This highlights that the method we use to determine energy can affect energy estimates and that in order to use energy values which support optimal animal performance, we need to carefully analyze each method. In an effort to provide as much value as possible to our customers, POET Nutrition will continue to focus on these topics to better characterize the nutritional value of Dakota Gold.
